We are three redhead sisters, one a year younger than the next, born into a family with a Swedish grandmother who loved to bake. Grandmother’s mentoring in home baked goods, annual Fatiman cookie exchange and weekly doughnut trips to Winchell’s Donut shop, were the center of our family’s traditions. How could we not become yummy sweet tooth foodies?
Well, we all found our different ways. Eldest, Ali lives in Northern California with her husband Mike and son Judah. Ali spent her career as a general and special education teacher until they were blessed with their son Judah. She now enjoys homeschooling and baking treats for family, friends and their community. Cookies, cakes, cup cakes, cinnamon rolls, monkey bread, Swedish pancakes (skinny hots), muffins or pies; just like her love of all children she finds a love for all treats. There is not a week that goes by without her house smelling of yumminess. She thoroughly enjoys getting out to explore local bakeries in hopes of finding that little slice of heaven.
Youngest, me (Lorie) lives in Northern Washington with my husband Will and two children (Wesley & Charlotte). I am a Registered nurse and US Army Veteran. My sourdough starter is fed often, as I enjoy baking a loaf of bread weekly. Just like grandmother; the love for baking is on high alert. If I find a little extra time, you’ll see me melting into the experience of a local bakery; smells, tastes, and flat out joy.
Unfortunately, the middle sister… yes it is always the middle sister who creates the… well you know the sayings.
Nikki lives in Nicaragua. She truly loves sugar as we do, but it just does not love her the same way. After many years fighting with the love affair, she finally gave up and now only indulges in dark chocolates and the occasional carrot cake (she loves a good carrot cake)… Why? We do not know where she came from really. When Ali and I would send picture texts of cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, cakes, etc... Nikki's responses became comical. “I’d slap someone if I ate that” as she comments back to doughnut texts. “I’ll end up punching someone!” in response to ice cream pictures. Where most get “Hangry” this girl gets sweet revenge. Best to keep her out of the sweet delights, for everyone's sake ;-)
Being the complete opposite from Nikki, Ali and I have to take a moment with a yummy treat. The treats make us want to sing and dance. Being sisters, Ali and I try to not leave Nikki out of an amazing treat experience. We know deep down she must secretly enjoy the obsession too, right?...right? She must. Her loss either way, the hunt for delicious baked goods is always on!
While in New York, we hit up EVERY Dunkin’ Doughnut we walked by...NO JOKE! We even started calling the shops ahead of time to make sure our favorite doughnuts would be there when we arrived. I think there is a slight obsession here… it’s totally normal.
To carry on sharing treats we call, text and video message our love affair with sugar and flour. Inspired by this greatness, we started a vlog. To share our silly shenanigans with the world, in hopes to bring sweetness, laughter and love into the lives of those that choose to follow.
We would love to hear from you. If you have any bakery suggestions we would love to know about them.
Thank you for coming together with us to laugh and indulge.
